Reliable water containment starts with reliable waterproofing

Reliable waterproofing is essential for new reservoirs to prevent leakage, protect water resources, and support long-term infrastructure performance. Carpi’s SIBELON® geomembrane systems provide an alternative to conventional concrete or bituminous concrete linings, combining reliable watertightness with flexibility and quickness of installation.

Designed for new reservoir construction, SIBELON® systems can be installed on rough subgrades and steep slopes, allowing increased capacity of the reservoir. Their ability to accommodate differential settlements helps maintain watertightness throughout the service life of the reservoir, preventing erosion and piping in the reservoir embankments. They reduce formation of algae and minimise maintenance.

Installation configurations

Three configurations for different project requirements

SIBELON® geomembrane systems can be adapted to the specific design and requirements of each new reservoir. Depending on the project, the geomembrane can remain exposed, be partially covered, or be fully covered.

The SIBELON® geomembrane remains exposed at the surface, providing a visible and directly accessible waterproofing layer. This configuration offers straightforward access to the geomembrane for inspection and maintenance.

The SIBELON® geomembrane is covered in selected areas while remaining exposed in others. This configuration provides flexibility to adapt the waterproofing system to the specific characteristics and requirements of the reservoir.

The SIBELON® geomembrane is protected by a covering layer, integrating the waterproofing system into the reservoir configuration while maintaining its watertight function.
