Who we are

At Carpi we are engineers, dedicated to research and creation of waterproofing solutions for new and existing hydraulic structures. At Carpi we are developers and suppliers of unique impermeable geomembranes. At Carpi we are  specialist waterproofing contractors  installing water barrier systems worldwide, with a turnkey approach.  

Our journey began in 1963, providing waterproofing solutions for civil structures. A few years later we turned to a more demanding sector, that of hydraulic structures: in 1970 we engineered, supplied and installed our first geomembrane system to repair a leaking dam, laying the foundations for decades of innovation in water infrastructure. In 1984, we installed our first geomembrane system on a pressure tunnel, in 1990 for the first time a Carpi geomembrane system was included in the design of a new dam and installed during its construction. In the early 1990s, to meet the needs of owners who could not dewater their structures, we ventured below the water surface, and started developing and applying systems for underwater installation, first on dams, and about two decades later on canals, under flowing water conditions. In 2019, our systems were for the first time used to waterproof the new reservoirs of pumped storage schemes, providing a milestone in preservation of water and safe exploitation of clean energy. 

Today, we have grown from a small group of passionate pioneers of the industry to a group of companies spread around the world to meet the needs of our clients, with dedicated people having sound international expertise across dams, reservoirs, canals, hydraulic tunnels, shafts and other hydraulic infrastructures, as well as in civil and environment protection structures.
